Morocco has been praised for investing its funds saved from fossil fuel subsidies to education and the establishment of a health-insurance program. Compared to some developed countries, Morocco’s emissions are very small.
They have constructed an undersea link with a technical capacity of 700MW which was commissioned in 1997. A second power hookup with the same technical capacity and length of 31.3KM was commissioned in the summer of 2016. The third link will make it possible to use renewable energy especially photovoltaic, in the European electricity system.
Currently Morocco is becoming one of the best producers of renewable energy. According to it report electricity export in the year 2019 rose to 670 percent.. This is in connection with the development of the world largest concentrated solar farm in the country.
The solar farm has the capacity to power one million homes while lowering fossil use. The plant consist of a number of utility-scale solar powers that utilize a variety of technologies. The plant currently produces about 400GWh of electricity each year.
