THe giant telecommunication giant, Safaricom is set launch a new service, where customers will be able to use custom Safaricom Visa card integrated with M-pesa for payment. The custom Safaricom Visa card will enable users to use it for payment even in other parts of the world.

The Visa card move will enable the local users to pay for any servces directly globally. Speaking during the conference call with the investors and anlaysts, the M-pesa Africa Managing Director Sitoyo stated that, ” The strategy is to open up e-commerce and opportunities for Kenyans to buy products and services online, whether it’s Amazon, Netflix and so on and so forth. So, makes it easier to do that”.
The company together with Visa on April 2020 agreed on a patnership to develop products to support digital payments for M-Pesa customers. Both companies said that the products would help eliminate barriers to global trade and expand mobile e-commerce capabilities to merchants and consumers. The virtual card is also expected to boost M-Pesa earnings considering the anticipated growth in e-commerce.
