The coast region in Kenya is receiving a huge boost thanks to massive infrastructural projects that are taking place. Below are some of the ongoing bridges constructions worth billions of Kenyan Shillings;
Mombasa Gate Bridge
This bridge connects Mombasa island with the south coast. It is one of the most iconic bridges in the region, construction of the project is expected to begin soon given that the feasibility studies are complete and the loan agreement was already signed.
The bridge will cost an estimated whopping $749 million dollars according to the treasures Yatani. The bridge will be located along Likoni.
Mteza – Mwache Bridge
It is estimated to have a length of 1.44km. This is part of the larger ongoing Dongo Kundu project and is estimated to be the longest bridge in the country upon completion at an estimated cost of Ksh25 billion according to KeNHA.
Has an estimated length of 600m. This project is to be undertaken through PPP partnership. Details concerning the project are a bit scanty but the project is expected to ease congestion from the existing Nyali bridge by providing another option.
Estimated length of 457m. The project cost is estimated to be $42.1 million us dollars. The bridge is to link Mombasa island to the mainland replacing the existing Makupa causeway. The project is currently under construction and completion is scheduled to be on June 2022 according to Gichuru.
