In a recent post, I talked of how Safaricom and Visa have been collaborating to develop new VISA card technolgy for customers with Kenya. The new M-Pesa Virtual VISA card will enable users to shop online from international platforms like Amazon and many others. You can check the post here , Safaricom and VISA patnership.
A few a days ago Safaricom unveiled the new M-Pesa Visa Virtual Card that makes it easy to use M-Pesa on global platforms. The M-Pesa virtual VISA card can now be easily accessed on your M-Pesa App. Kenyans have always been looking for a better solution for online international payment that works directly with their M-Pesa wallets, for a long period.
Actually, Most Kenyans use M-Pesa as a default means of payment and to access money, which makes Kenya one of the leaders when it comes to mobile money solutions. Intregrating VISA with M-Pesa solved the problem to use your M-Pesa wallet for transaction globally because VISA is accepted globally as a payment provider.
The VISA card only allows you to carry out yout transaction from your M-Pesa wallet and does not store any money and same rules and limitation as your M-Pesa account. However for now using this methor, there is no transaction fees, instead you will be charged a 3.5% forex fee markup.
