KQ, the pride of Africa as their mottos goes, is set to introduce flying taxis in Nairobi city which will be fuelled by electricity. We saw the carrier on Tuesday sign a letter of intent(LOI) with EVE UAM LLC, which is a subsidiary of Eve Holding Inc.
The rise of fuel price in the country have seen companies looking for better solution to replace fuel energy. Electric powered vehicles seems to be the solution. Kenya plans to acquire 40 Electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing(eVTOL) vehicles popularly known as flying taxis. Electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing is a new technology that aims at curbing traffic congestions in cities by provision of flying cars.
Deliveries of the flying taxis are expected to kickstart by 2026. The electric aircraft is emerging as the solution for navigating busy urban area transportation and has attracted global airlines in the race to secure revenue streams.
Lot of ideas are being utilized for urban taxi services, which include parcel delivery , medical assistance and recreation with minimal millitary use.
