To provide greater convenience to customers, both Kenya Airways and Virgin Atlantic are on the efforts for an interline agreement. The two airlines want to expand their reach in the Middle East, United States Of America(USA) and the Caribbean via London. The will agreement will further see VA passengers booking through tickets to Nairobi.
KQ customers travelling to London will be able to connect with Virgin Atlantic operated flights to Tel Aviv, Boston, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Bridge Town and many more others. Julius Thairu ,the KQ Chief Commercial & Customer Officer said that, “This agreement will advance our strategy to strengthen our major African hubs with connecting traffic and offer new growth opportunities for both carries. Additionally this alliance has a substancial economic impact by enhancing tradde and promoting travel across the continent.”
The agreement arises a few days after the KQ and South African Airways(SAA) signed a codeshare agreement that opens more destinations for seamless travel opportunities.The agreement will see each airline sell, under it’s own code, flights operated by each other. SAA customers will continue to earn Voyager Miles on these new codeshare flights. KQ and SAA are further exploring on more ways to enhance co-operation on their respective frequent flyer programs including reciprocal earning and redemption opportunities and popular benefits such as lounge access.
