Egerton University(EU) officially launched a EU minimart in Njoro near the Main Campus gate. Vice-Chancellor Kwibage stated that the EU minimart was part of the University’s effort to revamp it income generating units(IGUs) so as to sustain it self beyond the funding it receives from the government.
The minimart is set to offer medical services such as chemist shop to cater for the neighbouring communities. Speaking during the official launch University Council Member Ms Esther Wabuge said that the council had a vision of establishing IGUs and that the opening of the minimart was a step towards increasing and diversifying the University sources of income.
