This year Coca-cola , has introduced a new Organization which goes by the name JAMII. JAMII is a Swahili word from East Africa which means “community” , “Society” or “People”. The organization focusses on Africa sustainability that houses new and existing sustainability intiatives. The word JAMII a s derived from the Swahili people represents the spirit of togetherness.
The three pillars of JAMII will be:
- Waste management.
- Water stewardship.
- Economic empowerment.
The company(Coca-Cola) hopes to attract like minded patners to accelerate on the ground impact of the initiatives. It among the goals of JAMII to consolidate efforts and bring focus on these areas and make major impact.
Waste management
In 2018, the Coca-Cola company launched World Without Waste (WWW) – a sustainable packaging initiative with the vision to help correct and recycle the equivalent of every bottle. Through JAMII Coca-Cola Africa commits to drive the efforts of the “World Without Waste” intiative by focussing on collaboration with local industry peers, waste collecters and recyclers to achieve the JAMII mission and goals.
Water Stewardship
The organization aims at replenishing 100% of the water used in production of their products by managing water use efficiency in their operations, supporting the conservation of natural water resources and improving community water access and climate change adaption.
Women and economic empowerment
JAMII aims at promoting and generating entrepreneurship opportunities through the provision of improved access to soft skills training, networks, finance and markets.
